A calm puzzle game that plays offline, anywhere

Updated October 2026 · 3 min read

No signal? No problem. Block Skyline is a free block puzzle for iPhone and iPad, and every game works without the internet. Airplane mode, a tunnel, a cabin in the woods: you just open it and play.

Here is why it works so well offline, and where it fits into your day.

Why Block Skyline plays perfectly offline

Block Skyline was built to work with no connection from the start. Nothing in a game waits for the network.

  • No ads. Many free games depend on ads, and ads need a connection. Block Skyline has no ads at all, so there is nothing to load and nothing to fail in airplane mode.
  • No timer. Take your time. Think about each move. A game only ends when none of the pieces left in your tray fit on the board.
  • Your progress stays on your phone. Best score, best floor, daily streak and recent runs are saved on your device. Each finished game is saved right away, signal or not.
  • No account. No sign-in screen, no password, no email. You can skip the online part for good.
  • The leaderboard waits for you. If you chose a nickname, your new best score and best floor are sent to the world leaderboard once you are back online. It happens on its own.

How to play

Drag pieces onto an 8×8 board, three at a time. Fill a full row or column to clear it. Every 3 cleared lines add a floor to your tower, and combos make it climb faster. Simple to learn, easy to pick up anytime, hard to put down.

On a plane, in the metro, on the road

On a plane. Switch to airplane mode and play the whole flight. No ad breaks, no "connection lost" pop-up. A milestone arrives every 25 floors to keep the climb interesting.

In the metro. Signal comes and goes between stations. Block Skyline doesn't care. Play a few moves between two stops. If you get off mid-game, your run is saved and waits for you on the pause screen.

Travelling abroad. No roaming needed for your game. Play in the airport, on the train, at the hotel before the Wi-Fi password arrives. It plays in 16 languages, too.

Kids in the car. A calm, all-ages puzzle with no ads, no account and no timer. Nobody gets rushed. Just set it up before you leave home.

Save your mobile data

Playing uses no data at all. When you do connect, Block Skyline only sends small things: your best score and floor if you joined the leaderboard, plus anonymous usage stats that help us fix bugs. No tracking across apps, and no data is ever sold. You can read the details in our privacy policy.

Before you go: a 1-minute checklist

  1. Install Block Skyline on Wi-Fi before your trip (the iPhone and iPad app is coming soon). The download needs a connection, the game doesn't.
  2. Open it once, so everything is ready.
  3. Want to be on the world leaderboard? Pick your nickname while you are still online. Your scores will catch up later.
  4. Charge your phone. That part is up to you.
