If you enjoy Block Blast but want a quieter session, with no ads and nothing to sign up for, you are in the right place. This page compares five block puzzles side by side: Block Blast, Woodoku, 1010!, Blockudoku and our own game, Block Skyline. They share the same core idea (drag pieces onto a grid and clear full lines), but the grid size, the extra rules and the business model differ. The goal here is simply to help you find the one that fits how you like to play.
8×8 vs 9×9 vs 10×10: what changes?
- 8×8 boards (Block Blast, Block Skyline) have 64 cells. Space runs out quickly, so every placement counts and rounds tend to be short.
- 9×9 boards (Woodoku, Blockudoku) borrow the sudoku layout. Besides rows and columns, you can also clear squares, which adds a second way to think about the board.
- 10×10 boards (1010!) have 100 cells. The extra room gives you more space to set up lines across the board.

Who each game is for
Block Blast. If you like a fast 8×8 board, chain combos and a mix of modes (endless, daily puzzle and an Adventure mode with jigsaw-style levels), Block Blast is built around that. It is available on iPhone, iPad and Android.
Woodoku. If you like sudoku and a warm wooden look, Woodoku adds squares to the usual rows and columns on a 9×9 board, plus daily puzzles. It is playable offline, on iOS and Android.
1010! If you prefer a roomier 10×10 grid and a classic mode with themes and skins, 1010! has you covered, on iOS and Android, with no time limit.
Blockudoku. If you want the sudoku-style 9×9 grid with 3×3 squares and enjoy a bit of competition, Blockudoku offers daily challenges, seasonal events and tournaments with leaderboards. It has no time limit and is on iOS and Android.
Block Skyline. If you want a quiet 8×8 game with no ads, no timer and no account, and a small sense of progress that stays with you, Block Skyline is for you. You can play it free in your browser; the iPhone and iPad app is coming soon.
Why Block Skyline if you want calm
Block Skyline keeps the 8×8 board you may already know and removes the things that tend to break a relaxed session:
- No ads. There are no banners and no video breaks. The app contains no advertising SDK.
- No timer. Take as long as you like on each move. A round ends only when none of the pieces left in your tray fit.
- Offline. Play on a plane or in the subway. If you join the leaderboard, your score syncs later.
- No account. Open the app and play. A nickname is only needed if you want to appear on the leaderboard.
- A tower that grows. Every 3 lines you clear add a floor to your tower, and combos make it climb faster. A daily streak and a milestone every 25 floors give you a gentle reason to come back.
The board scales to the iPad screen, and the game is available in 16 languages.
